James Harden put together another transcendent performance last night against the Heat.
Harden scored 58 points and added 10 assists in a 121-118 win over the Miami Heat.
It was Harden’s sixth 50-plus point performance this season, no other player in the NBA this season has more than one 50-point game.
The Rockets overcame a 21-point 3rd quarter deficit to get what Head Coach Mike D’Antoni calls a “character win” and a “gut check” victory.
This was the seventh time in Harden’s career that he has had at least 50 points and 10 assists in game, no other player has done that more than three times in a career.
Harden said after the game,
“I wasn’t really paying attention to that. I was worried about getting stops, trying to play my butt off and create some energy in the building.”
That energy translated into 21 point comeback where the Rockets held the Heat to 20 fourth quarter points.
Offensively, Harden scored or assisted on 22 points in the 4th quarter leading to the comeback win.
The Rockets improved to 17-6 when Harden scores at least 40 points.
At 37-25 the Rockets now sit a game and a half behind the Thunder and Blazers for the third spot in the Western Conference.
The Rockets get back on the floor Sunday against Kyrie Irving and the Celtics.
