NBA history is a funny thing.

The ‘what ifs’ that have circulated throughout NBA history are endless.

What if MJ hadn’t retired for those two years?

What if the Lakers never signed Shaquille O’Neal?

What if the Blazers had drafted Michael Jordan and not Sam Bowie?

The list goes on and on.

Dwyane Wade addressed one of NBA history’s most talked about ‘what ifs’ on Wednesday.

Speaking on Darius Miles and Quentin Richardson’s Knuckleheads Podcast, Wade states that Miami’s Big Three almost didn’t happen.

In fact, Wade states that he and LeBron James almost went to Chicago to team with at that time Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, etc.

Wade, James, and Chris Bosh all wound up in Miami, because the Heat was the only team that could sign all three together at the time.

James and Wade, believing Bosh was the lynchpin to future championships, decided to come together on South Beach instead of going to Chicago or New York.

The decision worked out nicely as the trio went to 4 straight NBA Finals and won back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013.

Wade retired this season after winning 3 championships and being named to 13 All-Star teams.

James is three-time NBA champion, while Bosh finished with the two titles from the Heat.
