Times are tense in Beantown these days.
The Boston Celtics are attempting to figure out the direction of their franchise as the team’s biggest star, Kyrie Irving, is set for unrestricted free agency.
Irving is allegedly headed to the Brooklyn Nets, and the Celtics are in scramble mode in an attempt to hold things together.
Not to mention, the team just missed out on trading for Anthony Davis whom they had hoped to bring in to try and convince Irving to stay and play with.
With no Davis and NBA free agency only a couple of weeks away, the Celtics haven’t heard from the one guy they’re trying to keep…Kyrie Irving.
According to Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe, Irving has,
the Celtics ahead of free agency and the NBA Draft.
The timing of this news is especially bad for the Celtics as they try to solidify draft plans ahead of Thursday night’s NBA Draft.
Irving has gone through a reshuffling of his camp of sorts with him joining Roc Nation recently.
So Irving’s alleged lack of communication with the team may be due to the reorganization taking place around him.
Regardless, the Celtics obviously have a vested interest in Irving’s decision whether he stays or goes, and with no communication things become much more complicated.
For Danny Ainge and the front office of the Celtics they would like to know Irving’s decision sooner than later.
But with Irving, one never really knows.
All we can say is, stay tuned.
